My Sliding Scale
I believe that all pregnant people who want support during their pregnancy and births should have it, regardless of how much money they make. I also realize that for many, that is easier said than done. Sliding scale options are one way that I can offer birth support to everyone.

Why do I do it this way?
I wanted to create mine in a way that took into account oppression, systemic racism, and disparities in our community. Here is one way to figure out what type of payment works best for you for my services…
-
Are a person who experiences direct racism or via systemic oppression.
Are a black, brown, indigenous, or otherwise non-white person.
Are someone with a disability.
Are transgender.
Are gay/queer
Are a teenager or still in high school.
Have medical expenses that aren’t covered by insurance.
Have been denied work.
Are eligible for public assistance.
Have immigration-related expenses.
Are an unpaid community organizer.
Are a returning citizen who has been denied work because of incarceration history.
-
Own the home you live in.
Have investments, retirement or inherited money
Travel recreationally
Have access to family money and resources in times of need
Work part time by choice
Have a relatively high degree of earning power due to level of education, gender privilege, racial privilege, class background, etc. (even if you aren’t currently exercising that power).
How it works
Each of these options are wonderful and acceptable displays of community in business! I’ve personally been on different parts of the scale each time I’ve given birth. Please feel totally comfortable choosing what feels right for you and your family.
-
know that your payment is matching the value of the services you are receiving and you’re helping others access the same services who may not have been to otherwise.
-
know that your payment is helping me cover my costs and sustain a life dedicated to this work for you and others.
-
know that your payment and our agreement is a way that we support each other and share our gifts, passions, and missions. And the fact that your community gets to help you cover your doula is cool.
Need support but can’t figure out how you’re going to swing it?
If you can’t pay for support but really need it, I would love to talk.
